Valentine’s Day, a day completely devoted to overpriced chocolate, red hearts, and flowers. The stores are plastered with pink, red, and purple hearts, and other gifts that you can buy your significant other. Valentine’s Day is practically hated by almost everyone that doesn’t have a valentine.
Let me encourage you to not hate the day devoted to love. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about being with that special someone and being in love. You can celebrate with your family and friends, and let them know how much you love them. You don’t need to have a special someone to give the overpriced chocolates and cards to. You have family and friends who love you! And more importantly you have the God of the universe who loves you so much!
God loves you so very much! Just take a look at John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” He sent Jesus to die for your sins on a cross, and raised Him from the grave so that you and I and everyone who should believe could be saved! What Good News!
I dare you to take this coming Valentine’s Day, and make it known to people that they are loved. Share this Good News that I’ve shared with you, do some random acts of kindness, call up your family and friends. Just do something! And remember that “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). So will you take the dare? Will you believe?
