Change Is In The Air

DaretoBelieve

It’s a fresh new start this season with students going back to school, making the world “normal” again. Fall is only 11 days away, and its goodbye summer, hello scarves, boots, and pumpkin spice lattés!

I don’t know about the rest of the world, but I feel refreshed after a new start. Life gets a little more interesting, and it makes the mundane tasks go by easier. When our lives start to become the same day in and day out, we start to get bored and feel like we’re in a rut. Teachers with grading, businessmen looking over reports, telemarketers making calls, factory workers pulling a lever, new mothers changing the 100th diaper of the day… We all get that feeling.

Well I have some amazing news! God’s love for us is new every day! Look at what Lamentations 3:22-24 says: “22 The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 24 ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I have hope in Him.’” His love never ceases, never fails, is new, and is great. Well how about that! God gives us a fresh new start every day. This right here makes my heart very happy and leap for joy! God never gets tired of us!

This led me to think: how often do I get annoyed at people and get bored with them? It’s crazy how people can get on our nerves and drive us up the wall, or how they can be so predictable they become boring to us. If God can give us a new start, then shouldn’t we give others a new start too?

My dare for this month is to find one person that annoys or bores you, and try to give them a new start every day. I know this is a hard one, but what is life like without a little challenge? Just take it one day at a time. If that is too difficult, then try giving them a new start each week, then a couple days, until you can reach the everyday mark. Remember that prayer is a powerful tool, and can help you immensely in this. I know. I’ve done it before. So trust me on this one. Will you take the dare? Will you believe?
