School is ending and summer is almost on the horizon, which means to things: Finals and mission trips. As my mission trip draws near (only 13 more days!), I am reminded of our mission as believers to go and spread the Gospel to the lost people of the world. Whether this means witnessing to a barista at the local Starbucks or going halfway around the world, we are called to tell others about what Christ has done. We are called to share the Gospel to those of whom the Spirit is leading us to talk with.
In the last passage of Matthew, commonly referred to as the Great Commission, Jesus commands the disciples to go out into the world and share the Gospel:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
-Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
The best thing about witnessing to people is knowing that Christ is there with us, and that the Holy Spirit will work through us. I challenge you this week to listen to the Holy Spirit, and to obey if you feel led to witness to someone.
