God Is Our Strength

In the midst of trials this week, I was reminded yet again of something very important: God is our strength and refuge.  So many times, we find ourselves getting discouraged and frustrated when going through the difficulties of this life. We know God is there, but we forget sometimes just how mighty and strong our Father is; how He is our Great Protector.

In remembering this, the song Far Away by Lecrae came to mind. In this song, Lecrae talks about how even though we feel that God is far away in the midst of trials, He is actually right there protecting us and strengthening us. He then quotes a passage of the Bible towards the end of the tune. Psalm 62:5-8 (ESV):

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

On God rests my salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Trust in him at all times, O people;

pour out your heart before him;

God is a refuge for us.

In this passage, David talks about patiently waiting in silence, in absolute trust of our Father. God alone is our rock and our salvation, and in Him we place our hope: He is our refuge.

When you find yourself going through something difficult, I challenge you to remember how powerful and mighty our God is how He is our refuge and strength.

  1. I found this post to ring true throughout the entire week. Thanks for a reminder to continue looking for that refuge.
