Confusion/ This word seems to describe my semester so far, especially the past two weeks. Along with the stress of midterms, my mind kept focusing on the choice of whether or not to switch my major. I kept going back and forth, trying to rationalize my choice, trying to make the “practical” decision; however, my heart and mind were never at peace.
Ephesians 4:1 (NASB) speaks about living as we are called:
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you
to walk in a manner worthy of the calling
with which you have been called…
To “walk… worthy” means to daily live to match one’s position in Christ, to be what He desires for us to be. To do so, we must use the spiritual gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. I love how Romans 12:6a (NASB) puts it:
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us,
each of us it to exercise them accordingly…
We are to use our spiritual gifts. For instance, I have the spiritual gifts of hospitality and encouragement. Realizing this helped me make my final decision, along with wise counsel. I will be switching my major in order to use these gifts in a way that the Lord is calling me to do.
I encourage you all to listen to Lord’s voice, to do what He calls you to do; not only listen, but obey that call! I was stubborn and did not have any peace, but now have complete peace after submitting to His will for my life. Thanks be to the Lord for the direction and peace He gives!
