The Director’s Corner: A Sad Reminder

“Behold, you have made my days a few handbreaths, and my life is as nothing before you, surely all mankind is a mere breath.” Psalms 39:5

“Surely mankind is a mere breath” Think about that for a second, the psalmist certainly had a point, that we really are here one minute and gone the next, like a breath. However, this is the point we often forget in our busy world of i-phones and instant gratification. The prevailing idea is that we are immortal, invincible or untouchable. Then we wake up, as we did this morning and our whole complex comes crashing down around us with a click of the remote.

As we all stood around the Television we were once again reminded of how fragile we really are and how depraved our world really is. We were reminded by the number 12 how short life really can be, that we really are here for a moment and gone the next, just like a breath. As we watched the news reports flood in from Aurora Colorado we were once again shown the deathgrip that evil has on this world.

But dear friends as we grieve the loss of those 12 people as a nation and seek for answers as to the question of why I want you all to remember that we are not without hope. That 2,000 years ago a man by the name of Jesus was sent to this Earth to die for all sins, including the sins of the Colorado gunman. That Christ died so that we could have that new life through Him.

Yes dear friends we are but a breath, life is but a breath, it’s here one minute and gone the next. But we are not left in this world without hope of some kind and that hope is in Jesus Christ. I know right now we are in shock, that we don’t understand why, but I want you to think on this. Do you know where you will go when you die? It’s an age old question, but events like this should make us think of that.

I can tell you that if you an unbeliever you are going to spend an eternity in Hell, that’s all I’ll say on that, but if we believe in Christ then we will be raised to new life, transformed by Him into new men and woman. If we accept the free gift of salvation then we will be able to say with confidence that we are going to spend an eternity with Christ in heaven.

If you would like to know more about this salvation contact us here at 10:31 Life Ministries, there will be somebody who is more than willing to talk to you via email or through one of the facebook accounts.

For all the Christians who are reading this I pray that you will join with us in praying for our friends and neighbors who are effected by this tragedy, that the grace and peace of Jesus Christ might reign in their lives today and the rest of their lives.

God Bless you
